Charity Trek
In June 2010, 15 individuals (including 4 of our own committee
members), undertook a 5 day trek of the Transylvanian Alps in Romania.
After many months of hard training in sometimes inclement weather
conditions, on June 22nd they finally set off. After arriving in a very
cold and wet Romania, their adventure began. Trekking through hills and
mountains and up and down steep valleys was a massive challenge and took
determination and commitment. Finding energy and reserves deep down kept
them going until the end and the feeling of personal achievement and the
enormous contribution they had made to Aims2Cure made it all worthwhile.
We are delighted that the group raised an amazing £50,000 from this
trek, over and above all targets and expectations and Aims2Cure are
incredibly grateful for their efforts and dedication.
Aims2Cure will be undertaking yet another trek in the future and we
hope to have an even larger group. If you are interested in being part
of this experience, please let us know.
Once again, we would like to thank the Transylvanian Trekkers for
everything they have achieved and wish them a relaxing and restful
Summer.

Trek Report
In June 2010 a group of 15 undertook an incredible challenge - trekking
the Transylvanian Alps in Romania.
I was one of the 15 trekkers and it was the most incredible experience.
All the hard work training, commitment and determination contributed to
raising an unbelievable £50,000, far beyond our original target and
expectations.
I had the most amazing experience and have achieved a goal that I never
thought I was capable of. The days were wet, long and gruelling and now
when I look back, I can’t quite believe I actually climbed up and down
those endless steep mountains.
The days were very challenging but we were led by 3 fantastic
mountaineers. We could not have done this type of walking without the
poles that we were recommended to bring with as well as carrying an
extremely heavy ruck sack on our backs filled with all the equipment we
needed for that day, including 4 litres of water.
The 15 of us laughed the whole way and everyone was there to support
each other.
We trekked through the Bran-Rucar Corridor as well as a famous national
park called Piatra Craiului. The highest peak was 2,238m.
It was an experience I’ll never forget. As well as the all important
fundraising, I reached a personal goal and shared the experience with 14
other amazing trekkers.

After 6 months of training, 15 high spirited trekkers set off to
Transylvania to raise money for Aims2Cure.
It was a very challenging experience where everyone bonded and became
very close buddies. We all found it difficult at times and everyone
helped one another when needed - be it by telling bad jokes, making each
other laugh, pulling each other up the hill or helping them down the
other side.
The terrain at times was extremely difficult as it was very muddy, steep
and wet. We had trained so hard in the UK but were not prepared for the
challenging conditions we found, but helped each other through.
We laughed, cried, joked and climbed - sang songs, facebooked, took
loads of photos, spoke to friends and had a ball - which is proven by
ALL 15 wanting to trek again in the near future.
The group shared an incredible experience and have since we returned
home met up several times.
